The latest take on Stan Smith’s golf shoes is here with Adidas releasing a limited edition colourway of the classic tennis-inspired silhouette to honor the Zozo Championship and his return to Japan. The design of the shoe is centered on the philosophy of the Japanese fashion retailer, “Be unique.” Be equal. âThese words are inscribed on the heel of the shoe.
According to Adidas, the solid black upper represents equality and the vibrant multi-colored outsole represents our uniqueness as individuals. The combination of an all-black tongue, upper, midsole and laces is a rarity among golf shoes, but it creates a unique and stylish look. This style will also provide fun photo opportunities on the course: each follow-up will reveal a red, yellow, blue and black spikeless background that will add a pop of color to any golf outfit.
The look of the limited edition shoe is associated with practicality and comfort. It is waterproof and includes additional midsole padding, optimizing Stan Smith’s classic golf design. Continuing Adidas’ mission to “end plastic waste,” the model’s upper is constructed from recycled materials.
The shoe not only highlights the corporate outlook of the tournament sponsor, but it also celebrates the championship’s return to Japan. Last year, the event was temporarily moved to the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California, due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19. Next week, however, the tournament returns to its host country. A field of 78 players–which includes hometown star and defending Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama–will participate in the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan.
