Merriam-Webster’s definition of “Marshall” is:

A high official in the household of a medieval king, prince or nobleman originally in charge of cavalry but later generally in command of military forces.

Well, our golf course Marshalls aren’t exactly “top officials”, but they are definitely noble!

HOA #1 has six Marshalls (AKA Rangers) and their responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Make golfers feel welcome and informed, and let golfers know what is happening on the course, as well as what is expected of them (e.g. cart, cart paths, speed of play and position on the course). Marshals are essential in maintaining the pace of play on the course and ensuring that the day will be enjoyable for all golfers. In the words of our HOA#1 Head Pro, Jane Chanik:

Our goal is education and communication – to create an environment where all residents participate in the idea of improving the player experience through speed of play and course maintenance (as it relates to repairing bullet holes, filling divots, etc.).
