Neighbors in Oconomowoc assess damage from the Friday June 10 hailstorm. A company said the roofs needed to be replaced due to the damage.

“It looked like there were golf balls all over the driveway,” Nick Prindle said.

The storm left a trail of damage, mostly on rooftops.

Near Blue Dahlia Road and Daisy Lane, landlords like Prindle sorted everything on Monday.

“It’s been quite a cleaning weekend,” Prindle said.

Robert O’Shea, the owner of Roof and Gutter Solutions, said he had received dozens of phone calls since the storm.

“It’s a bit overwhelming,” O’Shea said.

“All these box vents here are going to be completely, all dented,” O’Shea said.

The older the roof, the more damage he found.

“You’ll start to notice that all those fiberglass mats won’t have pellets on them anymore,” O’Shea said.

He said the storm finished off some roofs already at the end of their life.

“Your roof protects your whole house, which is essentially your biggest investment, so when your deck is exposed like that, you have to worry about it leaking through your roof, damaging your drywall,” O’Shea said. . “You also have to worry about electricity leakage.”

His advice is to go locally when it comes to repairs.

“You don’t want someone to come and put a roof on your house,” O’Shea said. “You want to make sure it’s a reputable product, a reputable service, and you want to make sure the person providing the service is there for you every step of the way.”

Roofing companies from out of state were in Oconomowoc all weekend looking for business. It’s common after a storm like this. This is why it is so important to do your research.
